Selective CO2-to-Formate Conversion Driven by Visible Light over a Precious-Metal-Free Nonporous Coordination Polymer

Yoshinobu Kamakura et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks and coordination polymers are promising candidates for high-performance photocatalysts due to their tunable electronic and structural properties. This study presents a unique coordination polymer with a metal-sulfur bond, exhibiting efficient photocatalytic reduction of CO2 to formate under visible light irradiation.

Sn-Based Perovskite with a Wide Visible-Light Absorption Band Assisted by Hydride Doping

Masashi Nakamura et al.

Summary: A new Pb-free perovskite material with a wide range of visible-light absorption was successfully synthesized via hydride (H-) ion doping. The material showed a significant reduction in optical band gap and a clear anodic photoresponse when used as a photoelectrode material, demonstrating its potential for photofunctional applications. The utilization of stereoactive lone pair of electrons in combination with H- doping may provide another approach to the band gap reduction of Sn(IV)-based oxides, which are nontoxic and less expensive, but generally wide-gap semiconductors.

Cd3(C3N3S3)2 Polymer/Sn Schottky Heterojunction for Broadband-Solar Highly Selective Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction

Xudong Li et al.

Summary: In this study, a Sn/Cd-3(C3N3S3)(2) (CdTMT) composite was developed to achieve nearly 99% selectivity in the conversion of CO2 to CO. The presence of metal Sn on the surface of CdTMT forming a Schottky heterojunction significantly enhanced the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers and boosted the photocatalytic activity for CO2 reduction by about 3.7 times compared to pure CdTMT.

Visible-Light-Induced CO2 Reduction by Mixed-Valence Tin Oxide

Yang-Shin Liu et al.

Summary: This study observed the reduction of CO2 to CO in aqueous solution catalyzed by hydrothermally synthesized Sn3O4 under visible-light irradiation, with stable CO generation rate for 72 h. Because of its high activity and stability, Sn3O4 is considered a promising photocatalyst worthy of further examination.

Redox-Active Tin Metal-Organic Framework with a Thiolate-Based Ligand

Yoshinobu Kamakura et al.

Summary: This study reports the preparation and characterization of two Sn-MOF crystal structures, KGF-4 and KGF-10, with thiolates as coordinating functional groups. KGF-10, isolated as a pure phase, exhibits redox properties and a semiconducting band structure as confirmed by first-principles calculations.
