Two-Dimensional Polymers and Polymerizations

Austin M. Evans et al.

Summary: Synthetic chemists have developed various methods to synthesize molecules, polymers, and networks, but have long lacked the ability to prepare two-dimensional polymers from designed monomers. Recent advances in polymerization strategies and characterization methods have enabled the realization of covalently linked macromolecular sheets. Three predominant 2D polymerization strategies have emerged, producing 2DPs as either monolayers or multilayer assemblies.

Chiral-Induced Ultrathin Covalent Organic Frameworks Nanosheets with Tunable Circularly Polarized Luminescence

Hao Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, ultrathin chirCOFs NS with strong and tunable CPL were prepared using a chiral induced-synthesis strategy. The chirCOFs/Dyes showed strong chirality and increased and tunable photoluminescence, exhibiting excellent, tunable, and amplified CPL performance. The corresponding chirCOFs NS were dispersed into a PDMS matrix to form transparent, large size, and flexible COFs/PDMS films for practical CPL application.

Free-standing homochiral 2D monolayers by exfoliation of molecular crystals

Jinqiao Dong et al.

Summary: Researchers showed that crystals composed of discrete supramolecular coordination complexes can be exfoliated by sonication to produce free-standing monolayers. These monolayers have complex chiral surfaces and good crystallinity, and the intermolecular interactions sustaining them are purely due to apolar interactions. This unique material exhibits enhanced selectivity towards carbohydrate recognition.

Exploring Multifunctional Hydrogen-Bonded Organic Framework Materials

Zhangjing Zhang et al.

Summary: Hydrogen-bonded organic framework (HOF) materials are a new platform for developing multifunctional materials. They can be self-assembled, easily recovered and regenerated, and are compatible with biomolecules. The porosity and applications of HOF materials can be controlled by temperature and pressure, making them suitable for gas separations, gas storage, drug delivery, and sensing.
