Beyond bias and discrimination: redefining the Al ethics principle of fairness in healthcare machine-learning algorithms

By examining the concept of fairness from an ethical perspective, we redefine fairness and propose the requirements it should encompass. We emphasize that fairness has both a distributive dimension and a socio-relational dimension. Additionally, we identify the constitutive components of fairness and discuss the implications of fairness as an ethical value for HMLA.
