Developmental diversity and unique sensitivity to injury of lung endothelial subtypes during postnatal growth

Fabio Zanini et al.

Summary: At birth, the immature lung exhibits enhanced regenerative capacity but heightened susceptibility to injury. Angiogenesis plays a key role in postnatal lung development. Transcriptomic analysis revealed distinct profiles between immature and mature pulmonary endothelial cells (EC), with gradual changes over time. Injury-induced dysregulation of EC crosstalk, suppressed proliferation of certain EC populations, and stimulated proliferation of others. These findings have important implications for lung development and injury throughout life.

Transforming Growth Factor-induced Protein Promotes NF-κB-mediated Angiogenesis during Postnatal Lung Development

Min Liu et al.

Summary: The study identified TGFBI as a developmentally regulated protein that promotes NF-kappa B-mediated angiogenesis during early alveolarization by enhancing nitric oxide production. Dysregulation of TGFBI expression may contribute to diseases marked by impaired alveolar and vascular growth.

Single cell transcriptomic analysis of murine lung development on hyperoxia-induced damage

Summary: This study utilizes single-cell RNA sequencing to investigate cellular dynamics during normal or impaired lung development in mice, finding that exposure to hyperoxia alters cell composition, with inflammatory signaling identified as a key driver of changes induced by hyperoxia.
