Skeletal maturation in male elite youth athletes from the Middle East

Summary: In this study, the timing and intensity of skeletal maturation of the RUS bones in elite youth Arab athletes were examined using the SITAR model. The model with 5 degrees of freedom and untransformed chronological age was found to be the best fit. The results showed two peaks in the skeletal maturation velocity curve, with the second peak occurring approximately 1.5 years later than the peak height growth spurt.

Relative Skeletal Maturity and Performance Test Outcomes in Elite Youth Middle Eastern Soccer Players

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of differences in relative skeletal maturity on performance test outcomes in elite youth soccer players from the Middle East. The results showed that relative skeletal maturity had a significant effect on 40-m sprinting and countermovement jump height, while its effects on 10-m sprinting and maximal aerobic speed were unclear.

An objective description of routine sleep habits in elite youth football players from the Middle-East

Summary: This study found that elite youth football players from the Middle-East do not meet the age-specific sleep recommendations, with an average weekday sleep duration of approximately 5.5 to 6 hours and 6.5 to 7.5 hours on weekends, with sleep intermissions observed. Integration of sleep tracking into routine training monitoring could inform decisions regarding potential interventions to address sleep insufficiency and disorders in youth athletes.

Tanner-Whitehouse and Modified Bayley-Pinneau Adult Height Predictions in Elite Youth Soccer Players from the Middle East

Summary: This study provided the first scrutiny of adult height prediction protocols based on automated Greulich-Pyle and Tanner-Whitehouse skeletal ages applied to elite youth soccer players from the Middle East. The results showed that the Tanner-Whitehouse-II method provided more consistent estimates and can be considered the method of choice for talent development purposes in youth soccer players from the Middle East.
