High Burden of Adverse Drug Reactions to Isoniazid Preventive Therapy in People Living With HIV at 3 Tertiary Hospitals in Uganda: Associated Factors

Stella Maris Nanyonga et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and associated factors of suspected isoniazid preventive therapy (IPT)-linked adverse drug reactions (ADRs) in HIV-positive patients. The results showed a high prevalence of suspected ADRs, with female sex, study site, level of education, history of TB, good IPT adherence, and use of protease inhibitor-based antiretroviral therapy significantly associated with suspected ADRs. Musculoskeletal symptoms and dizziness were the most commonly experienced reactions.
