Noise predictions of a Mach 0.9 round jet using tailored adjoint Green's functions

Etienne Spieser et al.

Summary: The study investigates the turbulent mixing noise generated by a Mach 0.9 jet and focuses on accurately calculating the acoustic propagation effects using adjoint Green's function tailored to the jet mean flow. Tam and Auriault's statistical mixing noise model is modified for Pierce's wave equation to ensure energy preservation. A stable formulation for computing propagation effects is obtained, and adjoint fields are computed using the flow reversal theorem. The study demonstrates how tailored adjoint Green's functions filter the radiating part of Tam and Auriault's sound source model by weighting with propagation effects.

Application Limits of Conservative Source Interpolation Methods Using a Low Mach Number Hybrid Aeroacoustic Workflow

Stefan Schoder et al.

Summary: In low Mach number aeroacoustics, using hybrid simulation models with different meshes for flow and acoustics can lead to fast computational procedures. The study compares the accuracy and application limitations of cell-centroid-based conservative interpolation scheme to the computationally advanced cut-volume cell approach in 2D and 3D. The results show the monotonic convergence of both conservative interpolation schemes, with the simpler cell-centroid-based conservative interpolation being a preferred method for arbitrary mesh deformation.

Impact of the Sub-Grid Scale Turbulence Model in Aeroacoustic Simulation of Human Voice

Martin Lasota et al.

Summary: In an aeroacoustic simulation of human voice production, the SGS model was found to significantly impact the acoustic spectrum, affecting both the flow field and sound spectrum downstream. The use of the WALE model resulted in more accurate predictions of peak volumetric flow rates and higher sound pressure levels for higher harmonic frequencies compared to the One-Equation model.
