Are 2D Interfaces Really Flat?

Zhihui Cheng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the flatness of 2D interfaces under different conditions using cross-sectional scanning transmission electron microscopy. It reveals that dry transfer significantly alters the interface structure and that 3D metal-2D interfaces are more uneven compared to other metal-2D interfaces. Furthermore, the interfacial transformations in the contact and channel regions affect the electrical characteristics of MoS2-based field-effect transistors, with hBN encapsulation leading to improved device transconductance.

Modulation of Negative Differential Resistance in Black Phosphorus Transistors

Ruiqing Cheng et al.

Summary: This study reports the modulation of a unique NDR effect in ambipolar black phosphorus transistors, which exhibit high peak current density and operating temperature. The NDR peak current and voltage can be effectively modulated by the strong coupling between the channel and the gate electrode.

Negative Differential Resistance in Carbon-Based Nanostructures

S. A. Evlashin et al.

Summary: Research has found that NDR behavior can be formed in graphene-like nanostructures with high on-current density. Modeling suggests that the strong temperature dependence of the low-bias resistance is responsible for the nonlinear electrical behavior. This opens up opportunities for practical realization of NDR behavior in nanostructures of two- and three-dimensional material-based devices.

Near-infrared photodetection using random networks of single-walled carbon nanotubes with asymmetrical work-function electrodes

Mongkol Sapankaew et al.

Summary: The study shows that enhancing the performance of near-infrared photodetection devices, including responsivity, detectivity, and detection response, can be achieved by forming dense networks between nanotubes. This enhancement is mainly attributed to the increase in the light absorption area, the decrease in channel resistance, and the formation of high-efficient charge conduction paths.
