Exploration of Hierarchical Metal-Organic Framework as Ultralight, High-Strength Mechanical Metamaterials

Yurui Xing et al.

Summary: Due to their high surface to volume ratio and structural diversity, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted attention in various applications. This study demonstrates that hierarchical MOFs can exhibit superb mechanical properties through molecular construct and structural design. It provides insight into using MOF materials as low-density, high-strength mechanical metamaterials.
