Materials Engineering for Atmospheric Water Harvesting: Progress and Perspectives

Heat and mass transfer in hygroscopic hydrogels

Fracture and fatigue of ideal polymer networks

Summary: This study systematically investigates the fracture and fatigue of ideal polymer networks with controlled densities of dangling-chain defects. It is found that the fracture toughness and fatigue threshold of an ideal polymer network are almost the same without defects. Even after introducing a low density of dangling-chain defects, the fracture toughness and fatigue threshold of the ideal polymer network remain approximately the same. The fracture toughness of the ideal polymer network is also independent of the loading rate.
