Light/Force-Sensitive 0D Lead-Free Perovskites: From Highly Efficient Blue Afterglow to White Phosphorescence with Near-Unity Quantum Efficiency

Shangwei Feng et al.

Summary: New types of zero-dimensional perovskites with blue room-temperature phosphorescence were obtained and found to be highly sensitive to external light and force stimuli. The quantum yield of blue phosphorescence was enhanced and high-efficiency white phosphorescence was achieved by introducing Sb3+. This work overcomes the challenges of low quantum yield and short lifetime of blue phosphorescence, providing a feasible method for achieving high-efficiency white phosphorescence.

Boosting the Self-Trapped Exciton Emission in Alloyed Cs2(Ag/Na)InCl6 Double Perovskite via Cu+ Doping

Xingwen Cheng et al.

Summary: This study reports a unique strategy to achieve efficient self-trapped exciton (STE) emission in alloyed lead-free Cs-2(Ag/Na)InCl6 double perovskites through Cu+ doping. A small amount of Cu+ doping enhances the STE emission in the crystals, and the underlying mechanism is investigated by temperature-dependent photoluminescence and femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy.

Greatness in Simplicity: Efficient Red Room-Temperature Phosphorescence from Simple Halogenated Maleimides with a 2D Layered Structure

Shuaiqi Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, two maleimide derivatives with a two-dimensional layered structure exhibited highly efficient red room-temperature phosphorescence (RTP) in solid state. The red RTP was attributed to the synergism of n(pi)-ct-pi* transitions and the 2D halogen-bonded network. Interestingly, the red RTP could be excited by visible light at 500 nm and remained stable under water or external force stimulation. Furthermore, these materials showed high sensitivity and selectivity in detecting toxic heavy metal ions in environmental sewage.

Highly Efficient and Ultralong Afterglow Emission with Anti-Thermal Quenching from CsCdCl3 : Mn Perovskite Single Crystals

Zhe Tang et al.

Summary: This study proposes a novel strategy based on energy transfer to achieve efficient and long-lived phosphorescence by transferring triplet self-trapped excitons to Mn2+ dopants in CsCdCl3 perovskite materials. The doped CsCdCl3 exhibits high emission efficiency and long afterglow duration, with anti-thermal quenching properties. In-depth studies and calculations provide evidence for the mechanism of the anti-thermal quenching emission.

Photon and Phonon Coherence to Enhance Photoluminescence by Magnetic Polarons in Mn-Doped Rb3Cd2Cl7 Perovskites

Shuaigang Ge et al.

Summary: All-inorganic metal halide perovskite semiconductors have great potential in lighting applications. The effect of excitonic magnetic polarons (EMPs) in TM ion-doped halide perovskites on their luminescence processes has been investigated. Mn2+-doped Rb3Cd2Cl7 perovskite powders show strong emission, originating from the formation of self-trapped excitons (STEs) enhanced by ferromagnetic Mn-Mn pairs. Shallow trapped centers formed by localized EMPs contribute to the luminescence process. This compound provides a new way for TM-doped perovskite material design and applications for magneto-optical and display technology.

Upconversion and multiexciton generation in organic Mn(II) complex boost the quantum yield to > 100%

Atanu Jana et al.

Summary: In this study, non-toxic, zero-dimensional bulk organic-inorganic hybrid materials were developed, which exhibited upconversion and multiexciton generation along with a long lifetime. The multiexciton generation in these materials contributed to a high photoluminescence quantum yield, the highest among any other materials. This research provides a pathway for designing and synthesizing lead-free materials with upconversion and multiexciton generation properties, thus improving the performance of optoelectronic devices.

Pressure-Triggered Blue Emission of Zero-Dimensional Organic Bismuth Bromide Perovskite

Meng-En Sun et al.

Summary: Understanding the structure-property relationships in Zero-dimensional organic-inorganic metal halide perovskites is essential for their optoelectronic applications, especially in improving emission intensity, such as blue luminescence. Pressure-induced emission has been successfully achieved in a nonluminous 0D OMHP, showing a significant increase in emission intensity, even reaching high-efficiency blue luminescence with increased external pressure. Analysis of high-pressure experiments and first-principle calculations reveal that the observed pressure-induced emission is attributed to enhanced exciton binding energy due to octahedron distortion. This study sheds light on the relationship between structure and optical properties of OMHPs, potentially enhancing applications in pressure sensing and trademark security.
