Electrically conductive covalent organic frameworks: bridging the fields of organic metals and 2D materials

Manuel Souto et al.

Summary: The discovery of organic metals in the 1970s and the later advancements in graphene have opened up new possibilities in the design of electrical devices based on traditionally inert organic materials and the field of two-dimensional materials. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are emerging as promising 2D materials for organic electronics due to their structural diversity and tunable electronic properties. While the electrical conductivity of most COFs is currently too low for practical applications, promising strategies have been proposed to enhance electronic transport in these materials.
