Alcohol consumption trajectories over the Australian life course

Summary: This study analyzed survey data from Australia to examine alcohol consumption patterns over the life course. The findings suggest that alcohol consumption varies significantly, with higher quantity and frequency of drinking observed in early adulthood, and higher daily consumption and frequency of drinking in middle age.

Alcohol-Induced Death in the USA from 1999 to 2020: a Comparison of Age-Period-Cohort Methods

Summary: This study compared four different age-period-cohort models for alcohol-induced death in the USA from 1999 to 2020 and found that alcohol-induced death peaked between ages 45 and 60 in the USA with a positive period effect. There were differences across models in the presence and magnitude of cohort effects. The emerging evidence suggests an increased burden of alcohol-induced mortality for those born in the 1970s-1980s as they enter the age band of highest risk.
