Summary: The study found that patients with both bipolar disorder (BD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD) had a more severe clinical history compared to those with BD alone. Patients who first developed AUD before BD had a higher age at onset of BD, a higher prevalence of comorbid cannabis use disorder, and a higher number of manic/mixed BD episodes per year. The limitations of the study include the inability to draw causal conclusions due to its cross-sectional design.
