Summary: In this paper, a lossy circular ABH metasurface (LCAM) composed of gradient ABH subunits pasted with damping layers is proposed to enhance the omnidirectional vibration absorption of plates in broadband. The LCAM design is based on the multiple reflection effect in metasurfaces, and simulations and experiments demonstrate its effectiveness in different plate dimensions and boundary conditions.

Dual-tuning mechanism for elastic wave transmission in a triatomic lattice with string stiffening

Cang He et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of taut strings with adjustable tensions on the frequency spectra for elastic waves transmission in a triatomic lattice. The results show that the bandgaps become wider as greater tensions are exerted, and the string-tuning bandgaps can exhibit non-Hermitian form in multi-atomic lattices. The transmission properties and energy distribution of the corresponding finite system composed of such basic units are also analyzed. It is found that when high-amplitude waves enter with strings tightened, the tension and vibrational amplitude have a dual-tuning effect on the bandgaps.

Summary: This study proposes a square-grid structure with inertial amplification mechanisms to achieve better vibration isolation at low frequencies and wide band gaps. The motion equations and dispersion relations of two different types of meta-structure are derived and discussed. The results show that ultra-low frequency vibration isolation and multiple local resonant band gaps can be achieved under certain conditions.

Active feedforward control of flexural waves in an Acoustic Black Hole terminated beam

J. Cheer et al.

Summary: Acoustic Black Holes (ABHs) are created by introducing a tapering thickness profile into a structure to enhance structural damping and wave absorption. This paper investigates the performance enhancements of replacing passive damping with active vibration control (AVC) in an ABH system. The study demonstrates that the proposed active ABH (AABH) achieves equivalent broadband performance to traditional systems with lower computational requirements and control efforts.

Summary: The ABH plate is designed for vibration and noise reduction, with the size and thickness of the ABH cells playing a key role in its performance. Adding tuning masses can improve the low-frequency performance.
