Single-source-precursor derived multicomponent CNTs/Fe3Si/Fe/SiOCN ceramic nanocomposites: microstructural evolution and excellent electromagnetic wave absorbing properties

Zhaoju Yu et al.

Summary: Novel single-source-precursors for CNTs/Fe3Si/Fe/SiOCN ceramic nanocomposites were synthesized and their microstructure, phase evolution, electromagnetic properties, and EMA performance were investigated. The results showed that the introduced CNTs and in situ formed nanocrystallites were uniformly dispersed in an amorphous SiOCN matrix after appropriate annealing, exhibiting outstanding EMA performance. Therefore, the multicomponent ceramic nanocomposites have promising potential for thin and high-performance EMA materials in harsh environments.

Summary: In this study, 3D printed polymer-derived ceramics (PDCs) were utilized to achieve high-intensity broadband absorption of electromagnetic wave radiation by designing different structures (convex/flat and concave/flat bilayer structures) to optimize the attenuation characteristics. The research found that parallel structures had better electromagnetic absorption performance compared to series structures, attributed to stronger resonance and increased dielectric loss in PDCs-SiOC materials.
