Optical manipulation of Rashba-split 2-dimensional electron gas

M. Michiardi et al.

Summary: The study shows that the Rashba spin-splitting at the surface of Bi2Se3 topological insulator can be controlled via optical pulses, offering a new way to manipulate spin properties optically. By using time- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy, it was demonstrated that optical excitation can tune the Rashba-induced spin splitting of a two-dimensional electron gas, potentially leading to optically-driven spin logic devices with improved performance.

Controllable Thin-Film Approaches for Doping and Alloying Transition Metal Dichalcogenides Monolayers

Yu-Chuan Lin et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) exhibit exciting properties and versatile material chemistry, with outstanding structural stability allowing the introduction of various foreign dopants. Developments in controllable synthesis and processing techniques are essential for precise engineering of 2D TMD compositions and phases. Various thin-film synthesis and processing techniques have shown excellent controllability for substitutional doping of 2D TMDs.

Magnetic single atom catalyst in C2N to induce adsorption selectivity toward oxidizing gases

Muhammad Mushtaq et al.

Summary: The DFT method was used to study the effect of single-atom catalyst (SAC) of Mn embedded in C2N nanoribbon (C2N-NR) on adsorption properties for various gases. Results showed that SAC-Mn altered chemisorption processes, especially towards oxidizing molecules, leading to enhanced binding energy and charge transfer. The reduction in magnetization was attributed to the introduction of more spin-up states by the strong binding to oxidizing molecules, which could be useful for high selectivity gas sensors.
