The Stockholm CREAtinine Measurements (SCREAM) project: Fostering improvements in chronic kidney disease care

Juan Jesus Carrero et al.

Summary: The SCREAM project aims to quantify potential medication errors, estimate the burden of CKD, and illustrate the value of incorporating kidney function measures into medical decision-making. By utilizing common serum/plasma creatinine testing, SCREAM provides valuable information on the population's health and disease journey in Sweden. The research findings reveal the impact of CKD burden and kidney function on health risks and the risk-benefit ratio of medications.

Internet-based survey intervention improves adherence to methotrexate among psoriasis patients

Abigail Cline et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of digital interventions on adherence to methotrexate. The results showed that digital interventions significantly improved patients' correct usage of methotrexate, especially during follow-up visits. However, the digital intervention did not significantly improve disease severity.

Analysis of the Pharmacoutilization of Biological Drugs in Psoriatic Arthritis Patients: A Real-World Retrospective Study Among an Italian Population

Valentina Perrone et al.

Summary: This real-world study in Italy evaluated the pharmacoutilization of biological drugs in psoriatic arthritis patients. The results showed that more than one-third of patients were untreated and almost 20% were receiving biological medications. Among the biological users, there was an increasing use of IL-inhibitors and a decrease in TNF-inhibitors prescriptions over the years. The study also provided insights into the treatment patterns and persistence among patients receiving ixekizumab.

Elizabeth Sierocinski et al.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the treatment of 40,087 adults with rheumatic diseases with methotrexate over a five-year period, finding that laboratory monitoring was less frequent than recommended and serious complications were rare. Better coordination of laboratory monitoring is needed, along with more empirical evidence on the benefits and appropriate intervals for such monitoring.

Drug Persistence of Biologic Treatments in Psoriasis: A Swedish National Population Study

Marcus Schmitt-Egenolf et al.

Summary: This retrospective observational study conducted in Sweden from 2010 to 2018 analyzed 2292 adults with psoriasis who were treated with biologics. The study revealed that despite the chronic nature of psoriasis, the persistence with biologics was relatively low. Changes in therapeutic landscape influenced the persistence over time, providing patients with more options to switch biologic treatments.

Biologic Drug Survival in Psoriasis: A Systematic Review & Comparative Meta-Analysis

Ahmed I. Mourad et al.

Summary: Drug survival studies in psoriasis assessed the comparative effectiveness of biologics like ustekinumab, adalimumab, etanercept, infliximab, secukinumab, and ixekizumab in real-world settings. Results showed ustekinumab had the longest persistence, with adalimumab outperforming etanercept and infliximab at 5 years. The estimated pooled 2- and 5-year drug survival rates can serve as a useful tool for patient communication and clinical decision-making.
