Partial ligand shielding nanoparticles improve pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma treatment via a multifunctional paradigm for tumor stroma reprogramming

Ting Zhao et al.

Summary: This study established a CAF-targeting drug delivery system based on RBC vesicles partial protection for reprogramming the tumor microenvironment and enhancing tumor penetration and antitumor efficacy in PDAC. The results showed that the system improved the penetration of Dox in PDAC and inhibited tumor growth.

Inhaled deep eutectic solvent based-nanoemulsion of pirfenidone in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis

Ji-Hyun Kang et al.

Summary: PRF, formulated as an oral dosage form for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), has several side effects. In this study, we developed a high-load nano-emulsion using a novel deep eutectic solvent (DES) and found that pulmonary administration of the DES nano-emulsion improves bioavailability and lung distribution compared to the oral route. Additionally, pulmonary administration of PRF reduces toxicity risk.

Integrated metabolomics revealed the fibromyalgia-alleviation effect of Mo2C nanozyme through regulated homeostasis of oxidative stress and energy metabolism

Dingkun Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of Mo2C nanozyme on alleviating fibromyalgia through integrated metabolomics in a mouse model. The results showed that Mo2C treatment effectively enhanced energy metabolism-related biological events and restored homeostasis of oxidative stress and energy metabolism.

Pathological collagen targeting and penetrating liposomes for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis therapy

Ming-Yuan Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, pathological collagen targeting and penetrating liposomes were developed to deliver dual anti-fibrotic drugs deep into the injured alveoli of patients with IPF. The liposomes were decorated with collagen binding peptide and collagenase, allowing them to recognize and target the pathological collagen efficiently. The released dual drugs exhibited a synergistic anti-fibrotic effect, repairing the damaged epithelium and remodeling the extracellular matrix to rebuild the lung architecture.

Co-delivery of siPTPN13 and siNOX4 via (myo)fibroblast-targeting polymeric micelles for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis therapy

Jiwei Hou et al.

Summary: The development of a dual siRNA-loaded micelle delivery system targeting (myo)fibroblasts shows promising potential in inhibiting the progression of pulmonary fibrosis by suppressing (myo)fibroblast activation and promoting apoptosis. The micelles effectively deliver siRNA targeting NOX4 and PTPN13, leading to significant antifibrotic effects without causing damage to major organs in murine models.
