Nanowires for UV-vis-IR Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices

Xue Chen et al.

Summary: Simulating biological synaptic functionalities through artificial optoelectronic synaptic devices provides an innovative solution to overcome the von Neumann bottleneck. Nanowires-based optoelectronic synapses have attracted wide attention due to their advantages of high photoelectric conversion efficiency, adjustable light absorption coefficient, and broad spectral range. This review introduces the functionalities of optoelectronic synaptic devices and the current progress of nanowires-based optoelectronic synaptic devices in different spectral ranges. Furthermore, the connection between nanowires-based optoelectronic synaptic devices and neuromorphic systems is established. The challenges for future development are also discussed.

Boosting charge separation and photocatalytic CO2 reduction of CsPbBr3 perovskite quantum dots by hybridizing with P3HT

Liang Li et al.

Summary: The P3HT/CsPbBr3 composite, prepared by encapsulating CsPbBr3 quantum dots in a P3HT conducting polymer, showed outstanding photocatalytic performance in CO2 reduction with an electron consumption rate as high as 475.3 mu mol g-1 h-1, which was approximately 10 times higher than pristine CsPbBr3 QDs. This study demonstrates the great potential of conducting polymers/LHP heterogeneous photocatalysts in artificial photosynthesis.

Strain mediated light emission using heterojunctions of all-inorganic mixed-halide perovskite nanocrystals via piezo-phototronic effect

Sourabh Pal et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the fabrication of color-saturated CsPbBr3_xIx (x = 0-3)/ZnO heterojunctions based white LEDs using inorganic perovskite nanocrystals, achieving high luminescence properties and EL intensity enhancement through the piezoelectric effect of ZnO. The modulation of energy band alignment in the heterojunction leads to superior EL emission characteristics, showing promising applications in high-resolution flexible display devices and wearable electronics.

Emerging Artificial Neuron Devices for Probabilistic Computing

Zong-xiao Li et al.

Summary: Artificial intelligence has seen success in finance, commerce, and other industries, but faces challenges in simulating high-level brain functions. Algorithms using restricted Boltzmann machines and Bayesian inference have progressed in mimicking probabilistic inference, but silicon electronics struggle with generating true stochasticity. Emerging devices like memristors can produce uncertain non-linear output spikes, potentially bridging the gap between machine learning and the human brain.
