Improving the Performance of Red Organic Light-Emitting Transistors by Utilizing a High-k Organic/Inorganic Bilayer Dielectric

Changbin Zhao et al.

Summary: The integration of electrical switching and light emission in organic light-emitting transistors (OLETs) makes them highly promising for next-generation active-matrix flat-panel displays and related applications. This study focuses on fabricating high-performance red OLETs with a multilayer configuration and a bilayer dielectric that provides a high dielectric constant and improved interface quality. The use of an efficient red phosphorescent organic emitter as the emitting layer enhances exciton formation and light generation. The optimized OLETs exhibited high brightness and peak external quantum efficiency.

Thin films of electron donor-acceptor complexes: characterisation of mixed-crystalline phases and implications for electrical doping

Andreas Opitz et al.

Summary: This study comprehensively characterizes optically, structurally, and vibrationally the co-deposited films of donors and acceptors, and reveals the electrical doping effects. The results demonstrate mixed crystalline structures in co-deposited systems, with absorption energies crossing the neutral-to-ionic boundary and charge transfer determined by vibrational spectroscopy. Electrical transport measurements show a consistent relationship between electrical conductivity and activation energy for all complex-doped systems.

Effect of alkyl side chain length on the electroluminescent performance of blue light-emitting poly(fluorene-co-dibenzothiophene-S,S-dioxide)

Feng Peng et al.

Summary: By tuning the alkyl side chain length of emissive polymer, high-efficiency blue polymer light-emitting diodes with enhanced device lifetime were successfully achieved. The polymer PF8SO, with shorter side chains, exhibited higher glass-transition temperature, photoluminescence quantum yield, and closer pi-pi packing, leading to improved charge carrier transport and superior electroluminescence performance. This study demonstrates the significant potential of adjusting the alkyl side chain length in enhancing the electroluminescent performance of blue light-emitting polymers.

Efficient and low-voltage vertical organic permeable base light-emitting transistors

Zhongbin Wu et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated organic permeable base light-emitting transistors, which are three-terminal vertical optoelectronic devices operating at driving voltages below 5.0 V, emitting in the red, green, and blue ranges, and achieving peak external quantum efficiencies of 19.6%, 24.6%, and 11.8%, respectively. The key to the good performance obtained is the nano-pore permeable base electrode located at the center of the device, which forms a distinctive optical microcavity and regulates charge carrier injection and transport. This work paves the way towards efficient and low-voltage organic light-emitting transistors, beneficial for power-efficient active matrix displays and solid-state lighting.
