Multi-component ZnO alloys: Bandgap engineering, hetero-structures, and optoelectronic devices

Teng Zhang et al.

Summary: This review summarizes recent advances in the experimental and theoretical studies on bandgap engineering of Zinc Oxide (ZnO) through the formation of multi-component alloys, and discusses the development of related hetero-structures and optoelectronic devices. Efforts have been made to engineer the band structure of ZnO by substituting cations or anions, resulting in the desired material properties. Additionally, progress has been made in the development of ZnO alloy-based hetero-structures, which show potential for the development of optoelectronic devices.

Temperature-dependent sandwich and in-plane optical characterization of ternary chalcogenide TlSbS2

Fahrettin Sarcan et al.

Summary: The temperature-dependent optical absorption and emission mechanisms of ternary chalcogenide TlSbS2 were studied through sandwich and planar photoconductivity, and photoluminescence measurements in the temperature range 30 K to 300 K. Different transitions were observed in the photoconductivity and photoluminescence spectra at various temperatures, with spectral anisotropy observed near the bandgap energy in different directions of photoconductivity spectra.

High In-Plane Thermal Conductivity of Aluminum Nitride Thin Films

Md Shafkat Bin Hoque et al.

Summary: High thermal conductivities were measured in thin aluminum nitride (AlN) films through steady-state thermoreflectance, with in-plane thermal conductivity surpassing even diamond thin films at low temperatures. Phonon-phonon scattering was found to drive thermal transport in these AlN films, leading to an increase in thermal conductivity as temperature decreases. This study sheds light on the interplay among boundary, defect, and phonon-phonon scattering that contributes to the high in-plane thermal conductivity of AlN thin films.

In-plane anisotropic optical and mechanical properties of two-dimensional MoO3

Sergio Puebla et al.

Summary: The in-plane anisotropy of molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) has attracted increasing attention from the scientific community, with observed properties stemming from the material's anisotropic refractive index and elastic constants. Raman and micro-reflectance measurements were used to determine the angular dependence of the refractive index of thin MoO3 flakes, while the directional dependence of the MoO3 Young's modulus was studied using the buckling metrology method. It was found that MoO3 exhibits one of the largest in-plane anisotropic mechanical properties reported for 2D materials.
