Precision tomography of a three-qubit donor quantum processor in silicon

Mateusz T. Madzik et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates universal quantum logic operations using nuclear spins in a silicon nanoelectronic device, achieving high-fidelity entangled states. The precise characterization of quantum operations shows that nuclear spins are approaching the performance required for fault-tolerant quantum processors. Additionally, the entanglement between nuclear spins and electron spins is also demonstrated. The results establish a viable route for scalable quantum information processing using donor nuclear and electron spins.

Qubits made by advanced semiconductor manufacturing

A. M. J. Zwerver et al.

Summary: Silicon spin qubits can be fabricated using optical lithography and industrial processing in a 300 mm semiconductor manufacturing facility. This approach allows for the production of nanoscale gate patterns with high yield. The quantum dots exhibit good tunnel barrier control, making them suitable for fault-tolerant two-qubit gates.

Engineering long spin coherence times of spin-orbit qubits in silicon

Takashi Kobayashi et al.

Summary: Strong spin-orbit coupling systems allow for electrically controlled spin qubits, with electron-spin qubits having long coherence times suitable for quantum technologies. Ultra-long coherence times of 10 ms have been demonstrated for strain-engineered hole states bound to boron acceptors in bulk silicon 28, promising to greatly improve spin qubit scalability and functionality. These results open up new possibilities for developing artificial quantum systems and enhancing the functionality and scalability of spin-based quantum technologies.

Isotopic enrichment of silicon by high fluence 28Si- ion implantation

D. Holmes et al.

Summary: The study focuses on enriching the surface layers of Si-nat with isotopically purified Si-28 by high fluence Si-28(-) implantation, measuring the effectiveness of donor activation and coherence time upon annealing. The method shows promise for incorporation into the fabrication process flow of Si spin-qubit devices, demonstrating the potential for enhancing qubit performance.

A study of the formation of isotopically pure 28Si layers for quantum computers using conventional ion implantation

Ella B. Schneider et al.

Summary: The study explored the use of conventional ion implantation to create enriched Si-28 layers for quantum computers. Results showed that low energy, ultra-high vacuum implantation is crucial for achieving high Si-28 enrichment levels exceeding 99.9%. However, utilizing ultra-low energy implants may lead to excessive oxygen contamination and compromise the enrichment efficiency.
