Well-Ordered Nanonetwork Metamaterials from Block Copolymer Templated Syntheses

Kai-Chieh Yang et al.

Summary: By utilizing morphological evolution and optimization in living organisms, fine-tuned textures for specific functions can be achieved. Inspired by nature, materials with well-defined porous textures at the nanoscale are attractive for innovative properties. Deliberate structuring of nanonetwork textures can lead to enhanced properties. Network materials possess self-supporting frameworks, open-cell character, high porosity, and large specific surface area, providing specific functions and complexity. The self-assembly of block copolymers enables the fabrication of nanohybrids and nanoporous materials with well-ordered nanonetwork textures, exhibiting exceptional mechanical and optical properties beyond nature.
