Self-hygroscopic and smart color-changing hydrogels as coolers for improving energy conversion efficiency of electronics

Xiaojiang Mu et al.

Summary: Phase change materials are widely used for cooling electronic devices due to their potential as passive cooling solutions. This study reports a self-hygroscopic and smart color-changing hydrogel, Co@Li-PAM, which shows promising cooling potential and can be applied in electronic devices. The hydrogel consists of a porous PAM network, LiBr adsorbents, and Co ions, with reversible color changes indicating heat dissipation potential. Applying the Co@Li-PAM hydrogel to polycrystalline silicon solar cells increases energy conversion efficiency by 1.26%. This strategy offers solutions for electronic device development, carbon neutrality, and sustainable development goals.

Yujin Liu et al.

Summary: Exploration, utilization, and protection of marine resources are essential for the survival and development of mankind. However, existing underwater imaging technologies face challenges such as information loss, low contrast, and color distortion. In this study, we propose an underwater multispectral computational imaging system that combines single-photodetector imaging algorithm technology and a CdS/Sb2Se3 heterojunction photodetector. This system overcomes the limitations of traditional imaging systems, providing more flexible possibilities and enhanced imaging capabilities for underwater imaging.

More Se Vacancies in Sb2Se3 under Se-Rich Conditions: An Abnormal Behavior Induced by Defect-Correlation in Compensated Compound Semiconductors

Menglin Huang et al.

Summary: Contrary to previous beliefs, Se-rich conditions actually promote the formation of V-Se donor defects in Sb2Se3. The complex defect-correlation in quasi-1D Sb2Se3 and Sb2S3 leads to abnormal behaviors, such as decreasing the formation energy of ionized defects in Se-rich conditions. This challenges common chemical intuition and defect engineering strategies in compensated semiconductors.
