This study synthesized CuO nanospindle using petal extract of Hibiscus cannabinus to enhance its antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The cytotoxic activity against human acute myeloid leukemia HL60 cell line was found to be 70% at a concentration of 500 μg/ml. The morphological features of CuO were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), while its structural properties were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum, which provided evidence for the formation of monoclinic crystal structured CuO. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) analysis revealed the pristine properties of CuO nanospindles.
In this study, CuO nanospindle synthesized using petal extract of Hibiscus cannabinus (H. cannabinus) was attempted to have better antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Cytotoxic activity was found to be 70 % against human acute myeloid leukemia HL60 cell line at 500 mu g/ml. Morphological features of CuO was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Structural properties were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern and the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum of CuO provides additional evidence for the formation of monoclinic crystal structured CuO. Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) analysis exposed the pristine properties of CuO nanospindles.
