Dry reforming of methane on Ni(111) surface with different Mo doping ratio: DFT-assisted microkinetic study

Wan-Ying Wang et al.

Summary: The effect of Mo surface doping on the catalytic activity and carbon deposition resistance of Ni catalyst was studied using density functional theory (DFT) combined with microkinetic simulation. The results showed that Mo doping improves the electron donating ability of the Ni catalyst and increases the adsorption energy of the intermediate species in the DRM reaction. The Mo-doped Ni catalyst exhibited better catalytic activity and carbon deposition resistance.

Highly coke-resistant Ni-La2O2CO3 catalyst with low Ni loading for dry reforming of methane with carbon dioxide

Huahua Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the catalytic performance of xNi-La2O2CO3 catalysts with different Ni loadings for the dry reforming of methane reaction. It was found that the formation of catalytically active Ni-La interfaces significantly improved the coke-resistant performance and catalytic durability of the catalyst. The study provides guidance for potential industrial pathways for the dry reforming of methane reaction and offers a simple and effective method for designing coke-resistant catalysts for other challenging reactions.

Dry reforming of methane over Mn-Ni/attapulgite: Effect of Mn content on the active site distribution and catalytic performance

Defang Liang et al.

Summary: In this study, modified Ni/attapulgite catalysts with different Mn contents were prepared and applied in dry reforming of methane (DRM). The results showed that Mn content could change the distribution among metal sites, interface sites and oxygen vacancies in the catalysts. The N3M/A catalyst exhibited well-dispersed metallic Ni and MnOx species, forming abundant Ni-MnOx interfaces that enhanced the CH4 adsorption/activation and inhibited the sintering and oxidation of metallic Ni sites. It also had superior surface oxygen vacancies and medium CO2 adsorption sites, facilitating the adsorption/activation of CO2 and carbon removal ability.

Rational design of zeolite Y supported oxalate and borohydride ligands functionalized Cu catalysts for CO2 conversion to specialty chemicals

Olumide Bolarinwa Ayodele

Summary: This study investigates the impact of oxalate and borohydride ligands functionalization on the properties and activity of zeolite Y-supported copper nanoparticles in CO2 hydrogenation. The functionalization resulted in differences in physicochemical properties and activity, with oxalate showing higher methanol yield and borohydride showing higher dimethyl ether yield. Additionally, the functionalization effectively minimized CO formation.

Effect of Manganese and zeolite composition on zeolite-supported Ni-catalysts for dry reforming of methane

Aaron J. Najfach et al.

Summary: In this study, the effects of manganese on zeolite-supported nickel catalysts in dry reforming of methane were investigated. It was found that the impact of manganese on catalyst activity depends on the type of zeolite support. Generally, manganese decreased the activity of the catalysts, but improved stability over a 24-hour reaction period.

Hetero-Metallic Active Sites in Omega (MAZ) Zeolite-Catalyzed Methane Partial Oxidation: A DFT Study

Linzhe Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the doping of transition metals Pd, Pt, Fe, Co, Ni, Au, and Ag in dinuclear active sites in Cu-exchanged MAZ zeolite. The calculated process of [Cu-O-M](2+)-MAZ-catalyzed methane partial oxidation is discussed, along with the geometric and electronic structural properties of hetero-metallic [Cu-O-M](2+) and various activity descriptors for reactivity. The results demonstrate an efficient method for enhancing the catalytic performance of Cu-exchanged MAZ zeolite in methane direct conversion to methanol.

The effect of chemical composition on the properties of LTA zeolite: A theoretical study

Joel Antunez-Garcia et al.

Summary: The electronic properties of LTA-type zeolites in siliceous, aluminized, and ferric frameworks were studied using DFT computations. The findings indicate that in the aluminized framework, the non-Lo·wensteinian configuration has better electronic conductivity than the Lo·wensteinian framework. The ferric frameworks show distinct magnetic nature and higher acidity compared to aluminized ones. Additionally, the purely siliceous LTA framework exhibits an inversion in charge behavior, associated with its hydrophobic nature.

Hydrogen and syngas production from methane-acetylene rich combustion in inert porous media burner

Nicolas Ripoll et al.

Summary: The experimental results demonstrate that methane-acetylene rich combustion inside an inert porous media burner can enhance the performance of hydrogen and syngas production. The addition of acetylene increases the reaction temperature and syngas production, leading to significant improvements in H-2 production under specific conditions. Additionally, there is an opportunity to optimize conditions for increased CO production by adding a small amount of acetylene.
