Age-Defying and Photoprotective Potential of Geranium/Calendula Essential Oil Encapsulated Vesicular Cream on Biochemical Parameters against UVB Radiation Induced Skin Aging in Rat

Alka Lohani et al.

Summary: This study investigates the photoprotective potential of geranium essential oil (GEO)/calendula essential oil (CEO) encapsulated vesicular cream on the biochemical parameters of the skin of albino rats exposed to UVB radiation. The results show that the vesicular cream formulations can protect the endogenous skin natural antioxidant system, decrease oxidative stress, and maintain cellular structures after UVB exposure. The GEO/CEO-encapsulated vesicular creams have the potential to protect the skin against harmful UVB radiation and slow down the skin aging process.

Flavonoids in Skin Senescence Prevention and Treatment

Anna Domaszewska-Szostek et al.

Summary: Skin aging is closely related to the accumulation of senescent cells, which can lead to various pathological changes. By targeting cellular pathways crucial for regulating cellular senescence and senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP), plant-derived compounds like flavonoids show potential in preventing and slowing down age-associated skin deterioration.
