A comparative study of immigrant-native segregation at multiple spatial scales in urban Europe

Summary: This paper contributes to the existing research on immigrant segregation by conducting a comparative study of cities of different sizes in Germany, Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. The findings show that UK cities have the highest level of segregation in Europe, while the rankings of other countries depend on the immigrant groups and spatial scales considered. National context and structural-ecological factors are important predictors of segregation patterns in Europe.

Freight Demand Distribution in a Suburban Area: Calibration of an Acquisition Model with Floating Car Data

Summary: This paper investigates the interaction between freight flows, land use, and the economy of a suburban area. City logistics planning is necessary to reduce negative externalities caused by freight transport while maintaining economic and social vitality. Transport System Models (TSMs) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) play important roles in estimating and evaluating urban freight distribution performance and impacts. The combination of TSMs and ICTs, using data from GPS trackers, can provide continuous and cost-effective insights into the distribution process. The paper focuses on TSMs related to estimating urban freight demand flows and presents a case study in Reggio Calabria, Italy. The results demonstrate the importance of adequate city logistics planning for environmental, social, and economic sustainability.

Measuring Community Green Inequity: A Fine-Scale Assessment of Beijing Urban Area
