Graphene oxide-cyanuric acid nanocomposite as a novel adsorbent for highly efficient solid phase extraction of Pb2+ followed by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry; statistical, soft computing and mechanistic efforts

Summary: In this research, a graphene oxide-cyanuric acid nanocomposite was used as an efficient adsorbent for the solid phase extraction of Pb2+ followed by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry. The adsorbent was characterized using FT-IR, FE-SEM, and EDX. Response surface methodology based on central composite design was used to optimize the parameters, and under the optimum conditions, the calibration curve was linear in the range of 0.15-3.0 μg L-1 Pb2+. The adsorption mechanism was determined to follow the Freundlich isotherm, and the adsorption process was governed by the second-order kinetic model. Artificial neural network and random forest algorithm were employed for prediction of adsorption performance, and showed good accuracy.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of different pre-treatment methods on the properties of graphene oxide (GO) and its adsorption capacity for dyes and heavy metal ions. The results show that GO pre-treated with NaOH has a higher porous surface area and oxygen content. Both GO samples exhibit excellent adsorption capacity, with maximum monolayer adsorption capacities of 299.38 mg/g, 311.54 mg/g, and 107.65 mg/g for CR, MB, and Cd (II) respectively. The experimental data fit well with the pseudo-second-order model, and the adsorption process is spontaneous and exothermic. GO-N shows better adsorption performance and can be considered as a promising and cost-effective adsorbent for the removal of dyes and metal ions from industrial wastewater.

Preparation of graphene oxide/4A molecular sieve composite and evaluation of adsorption performance for Rhodamine B

Summary: A novel composite material based on graphene oxide and molecular sieve 4A (GO/4A) was designed for efficient removal of Rhodamine B (RB) in water. The adsorption capacity of GO/4A-3 for RB reached a high value of 62.81 mg.g(-1) at pH 3, and its removal performance was improved by 291% compared to acid-modified 4A molecular sieve. The successful combination of GO and 4A molecular sieve also improved the poor separation performance of GO itself. Thermodynamic studies showed that RB was spontaneously, endothermically, and entropy-increasing adsorbed onto 4A molecular sieve and GO/4A composites.

Mesoporous activated carbon as a green adsorbent for the removal of heavy metals and Congo red: Characterization, adsorption kinetics, and isotherm studies

Fabrication of BiOBr/MoS2/graphene oxide composites for efficient adsorption and photocatalytic removal of tetracycline antibiotics

Magnetic graphene oxide nanocomposite: One-pot preparation, adsorption performance and mechanism for aqueous Mn(II) and Zn(II)
