Effects of sugarcane bagasse fibers on the properties of compressed and stabilized earth blocks

Nitin Kumar et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the effects of sugarcane bagasse fibers (SCBFs) on the mechanical strength and durability properties of compressed and stabilized earth blocks (CSEBs). The results show that including 0.5% to 1.0% by weight of SCBFs in CSEBs stabilized with 12% by weight of cement can significantly improve the CSEB mechanical properties without compromising their durability properties.

Feasibility of ECC with high contents of post-processed bagasse ash as partial cement replacement

Sujata Subedi et al.

Summary: The study found that with an increase in PBA content, workability and compressive strength of the composite materials decreased while surface resistivity increased. PBA composites outperformed those using FA in terms of compressive strength and surface resistivity, but exhibited shortcomings in crack-tip fracture toughness and tensile strength of the concrete.

Aerodynamics Effect of Holes in UAV Wings Modified for VTOL Capability

Laith S. Sawaqed et al.

Summary: This research explores the possibility of modifying the X8 Skywalker from a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle into a convertiplane. Computational fluid dynamics and wind tunnel experiments were conducted to analyze the performance of different wing configurations. The results indicate that the proposed modifications can generate enough lift despite reducing the wing area, with the filleted hole configuration demonstrating less drag and turbulence effects at low angles of attack.

Effect of Raw Sugarcane Bagasse Ash as Sand Replacement on the Fiber-Bridging Properties of Engineered Cementitious Composites

Sujata Subedi et al.

Summary: Using raw sugarcane bagasse ash (SCBA) as a replacement for sand in engineered cementitious composites (ECCs) can improve tensile ductility and provide mild improvements in tensile strength. The study found that raw SCBA had minor effects on fiber-bridging capacity but significantly increased complementary energy. Additionally, there was a positive correlation between pseudo strain-hardening strength index and raw SCBA content, contributing to tensile ductility enhancements.
