This article proposes an alternative way to understand the subject through an analysis of Gracian's thought and his reflection on the notion of "genio comun de las naciones". The hypothesis put forth is that an individual's own genius is inherently linked to a communal genius, with the particular genius being a manifestation of this communal basis. Furthermore, the article explores a trans-individual perspective of both subject and culture based on the community foundation, emphasizing the relevance of Baroque thought in modern times.
The modernity imposed, from a rationalist conception of human being, a way to understand the subject as subject autonomous, independent, separate and perfect. In this work we essay an alternative way to considerate the subject, a way which we can find out within the Gracian's thought and his reflection about his notion of << genio comun de las naciones >>. The hypothesis which we will explain is that the own human being's << genius >>, understood as his natural basis, is necessarily linked to a community genius, from which the particular genius is understood as a particularization. At the same time, we will go from this community basis as precedent of a trans-individual vision of both subject and culture. This will allow to relate the Gracian's thought with the Gilbert Simondon's thougth and to revendicate the actuality of Baroque thought in our time.
