Automatic Fish Species Classification Using Deep Convolutional Neural Networks

Muhammad Ather Iqbal et al.

Summary: An automated system for identification and classification of fish species was introduced in this paper, based on deep convolutional neural networks. The proposed model, a reduced version of the AlexNet model, achieved higher testing accuracy compared to the original AlexNet model.

Measurement of Fish Morphological Features through Image Processing and Deep Learning Techniques

Nikos Petrellis

Summary: The work aims to support applications for fish culture or in the wild by developing deep learning and image processing techniques for monitoring fish growth and health, as well as for fish classification. In order to improve measurement efficiency and accuracy, a method combining image processing and machine learning is proposed. In testing, the method is applied to measure four species of fish, with errors ranging from 1.9% to 13.2%.

Automatic Metadata Generation for Fish Specimen Image Collections

Joel Pepper et al.

Summary: This research focuses on using machine-driven approaches to analyze digitized fish images and extract crucial features, providing key metadata for Biology Guided Neural Networks (BGNN). Results demonstrate the importance of automatically generated metadata for predictive analytics of neural networks, outperforming humans in terms of time and accuracy in the automated process.
