PSYCHOANALYTIC STUDY OF THE CHILD (2023)

Randomized controlled trial of Regulation Focused Psychotherapy for children: A manualized psychodynamic treatment for externalizing behaviors

Summary: This study is the first randomized controlled trial of manualized psychodynamic intervention for children with ODD, showing significant reductions in ODD symptoms after 10 weeks of treatment. While parent-reported improvements in ODD symptoms were significant at the end of treatment, there were no observed changes in explicit emotion regulation. 79.4% of children were recovered or improved after 10 weeks of treatment.
