Performance assessment of SWAT and HEC-HMS model for runoff simulation of Toba watershed, Ethiopia

Sewmehon Sisay Fanta et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the performance of SWAT and HEC-HMS models in daily runoff simulation in the Toba watershed in Abbay River Basin, Ethiopia using the same input data and methods. The results show that both models perform well in simulating runoff. Overestimation of peak discharge and average runoff for cultivated land provides insight into the characteristics of land use/land cover in the watershed. This study can serve as a baseline scenario for future assessments of land use/land cover and runoff potential.

Event-based and continous flood modeling in Zijinguan watershed, Northern China

Rajeev Katwal et al.

Summary: This study established event-based and continuous hydrological models in Zijinguan watershed using HEC-HMS. Different loss methods and calibration parameters were utilized. The performance of SCS-CN model was found to be better than that of SMA model during calibration and validation processes.

Application of Physically Based Semi-Distributed HEC-HMS Model for Flow Simulation in Tributary Catchments of Kaohsiung Area Taiwan

Fiaz Hussain et al.

Summary: This study successfully simulated surface runoff in four tributary catchments of Kaohsiung area Taiwan using the HEC-HMS model, showing satisfactory simulation performance. The model was also applied to the ungauged Meinong creek catchment after calibration, verifying its efficiency in synthesizing hydrologic processes and phenomena in both wet and dry seasons.

Impact of climate change on the stream-flow of Ala River, Akure, Nigeria

A. M. Akinwumi et al.

Summary: This research aims to simulate the impact of climate change on the stream-flow of Ala River in Nigeria by projecting future rainfall and using a hydrologic model for simulation. The study shows that there is a continuous increase in runoff generated as a result of increased precipitation due to climate change.
