Looking Beyond the Numbers: Increasing Diversity and Inclusion Through Holistic Review in General Surgery Recruitment

Summary: This study aimed to examine the effect of a holistic review process on the recruitment of women and students underrepresented in medicine in a general surgery residency program. The results showed a significant increase in the proportion of women and UIM students ranked in the program post-holistic review implementation, with a slight increase in matched female and UIM applicants as well.
