Land use/land cover dynamics study and prediction in jaipur city using CA markov model integrated with road network

Nitesh Kumar Maurya et al.

Summary: Land Use Land Cover (LULC) dynamics analysis is crucial for identifying and addressing potential disasters or situations before they become unmanageable. This study conducted LULC change analysis in Jaipur City, India, and predicted future changes based on current trends. The results showed a significant increase in urban areas, highlighting the need for policy interventions to manage population and urban growth.

Simulating future intra-urban land use patterns of a developing city: a case study of Jashore, Bangladesh

Syed Riad Morshed et al.

Summary: The rapid urban growth in Bangladesh has adverse implications for societal, economic, and environmental sustainability. In this study, the historical land use/land cover changes and future potential intra-urban growth patterns of Jashore City up to 2050 were assessed. The findings reveal that the built-up area expanded quickly, while cropland and water areas experienced significant loss of coverage. The study contributes to the long-term ecological development of Jashore City and potentially enhances environmental decision making.

Quantifying and assessing land use and land cover changes around the critical waterbodies - a case study of Bhagirathi-Hooghly floodplain, East India

Sourav Kastha et al.

Summary: The study focuses on mapping and assessing the land use and land cover (LULC) change in the abandoned natural river cutoffs and oxbow lakes of the Bhagirathi-Hooghly river in East India. Using Landsat satellite images and supervised classification technique, the study found significant transformation of land due to anthropogenic pressures and river channel migration. The findings emphasize the importance of integrated LULC and resource management for sustainable development.

Land use land cover change detection and monitoring of urban growth using remote sensing and GIS techniques: a micro-level study

Sandipta Das et al.

Summary: Accurate information on the rate of land-use pattern changes and urban expansion is crucial for sustainable development. Rapid urban growth in small cities of India poses challenges due to lack of data and analysis. The study of land use/land cover change dynamics in Barakpur emphasizes the need for proper land use management and sustainable urban development policies.

Spatiotemporal dynamics of urban landscape in Asansol municipal corporation, West Bengal, India: a geospatial analysis

Biswajit Maity et al.

Summary: This study analyzed the land use change and urban expansion in Asansol Municipal Corporation using satellite imagery. The result showed a significant increase in the built-up area from 1991 to 2018, expanding towards the southwest direction. The study also highlighted the potential threat of urban heat island due to the lack of vegetation cover and industry-based urban expansion in the area.

Monitoring land use changes and its future prospects using cellular automata simulation and artificial neural network for Ahmedabad city, India

Saleem Ahmad Yatoo et al.

Summary: This study monitored the urban sprawl in Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) area and predicted future urban land use using remote sensing satellite data and GIS techniques. The results showed an increase in built-up area and a decrease in agricultural land, open spaces, urban vegetation, and water bodies. The predicted growth indicated that built-up area would cover a significant portion of the AMC area by 2027.

Land-Use and Land-Cover Change Detection in a North-Eastern Wetland Ecosystem of Bangladesh Using Remote Sensing and GIS Techniques

Shwarnali Bhattacharjee et al.

Summary: This study analyzed land-use and land-cover changes in the Lakshmibaur-Nalair Haor area of Bangladesh between 1989 and 2019 using remote sensing and GIS techniques. The research found that over the last 3 decades, the deep water bodies decreased by 37.54%, vegetation decreased by 8.34%, cropland increased by 29.39%, shallow water increased by 45.44%, and bare soil increased by 28%. Such changes indicate significant human interventions and the gradual transformation of deep water bodies into shallower waters for agricultural expansion.

Spatiotemporal Change Analysis and Future Scenario of LULC Using the CA-ANN Approach: A Case Study of the Greater Bay Area, China

Zaheer Abbas et al.

Summary: The LULC transition analysis using remote sensing data from 1980-2020 in the Greater Bay Area reveals significant impacts of physical and socioeconomic driving factors on landscape patterns, especially the rapid urban expansion which led to loss of forest, cropland, and grassland. Projected results for 2030-2050 also show an increasing trend in built-up area, forest, and water at the expense of cropland and grassland.
