Emotion Regulation Difficulties in Military Fathers Magnify Their Benefit from a Parenting Program

Summary: This study examined the effects of a parenting program on deployed fathers' emotion-related parenting practices and found that fathers' emotion regulation difficulties moderated the intervention's effects. The findings highlight the importance of parental emotion regulation and provide insights into how a parenting program can improve parenting practices and for whom.

Mechanisms by Which the Fun for Wellness Intervention May Promote Subjective Well-Being in Adults with Obesity: a Reanalysis Using Baseline Target Moderation

Summary: This study used baseline target moderation to assess the variation in the impact of the Fun For Wellness (FFW) intervention on subjective well-being dimensions in adults with obesity. The findings suggest that well-being self-efficacy at baseline moderates both the direct and indirect effects of FFW on subjective well-being. The results also indicate that there is variation in the direct effect of FFW on subjective well-being depending on the well-being self-efficacy at baseline.

Baseline Targeted Moderation in a Trial of the Family Check-Up 4 Health: Potential Explanations for Finding Few Practical Effects

Summary: Not all participants benefit equally from prevention programs, and therefore, prevention science is embracing individual tailoring of interventions. This study examined the baseline targeted moderation (BTM) effects within a trial of the Family Check-Up 4 Health (FCU4Health) program and found limited BTM effects. The high-risk nature of the sample and the individual tailoring of FCU4Health might have contributed to these findings.

A Component Evaluation of a Randomised Control Community Intervention to Reduce Adolescent Alcohol Use in Australia

Summary: Although there has been a decline in the number of Australian adolescents reporting alcohol consumption, a high proportion of the adolescent population still drinks. Community-led prevention interventions have been shown to be effective in reducing youth alcohol and drug use behaviors. The post-intervention effects of a multi-component community intervention in Australia were evaluated, showing significant impacts on intention and consumption related to underage alcohol use.

Moderators of Psychosocial Intervention Response for Children and Adolescents with Conduct Problems

Summary: This Brief Report synthesizes current evidence on moderators of psychosocial intervention response for children and adolescents with conduct problems, and provides directions for future research. Moderation analyses have revealed certain variables that influence intervention outcomes, and future research is recommended to examine multiple moderators in combination and utilize innovative techniques for a better understanding of risk and protective factors intertwining in developmental theory.
