Early career researchers' identity positions based on research experiences

Summary: This study analyzes the identity positions of early career researchers from a dialogical-self perspective and explores their experiences when facing significant research events over their career trajectory. The study used an idiographic longitudinal approach and a narrative methodology. The results revealed seven identity positions and differences in their frequency and distribution when considering research and teaching careers.

Many of these programmes attract working professionals and offer part-time options. However, the dissertation component of these programmes has not been extensively explored. This study investigates the relationship between online Masters dissertation students and their supervisors and proposes a model of participatory alignment to describe the partnership between them.

Summary: This study compared the research experiences of Mainland Chinese and local Hong Kong students in a Hong Kong context, finding differences in satisfaction with infrastructure, supervision, communication with supervisors, and peer support. Invariance tests indicated no significant differences in the path models of the two groups.
