Smart Speech Systems: A Focus Group Study on Older Adult User and Non-User Perceptions of Speech Interfaces

Lauren Werner et al.

Summary: The increasing popularity of smart speech systems presents opportunities for older adults to benefit from this technology. A study comparing the perceptions and attitudes of older users and non-users of speech systems found similarities and differences between the two groups. The findings provide guidance for the development and refinement of smart technologies for senior populations.

Older drivers' experience with automated vehicle technology

Sherrilene Classen et al.

Summary: The study found that older drivers' perceptions of safety, trust, and perceived usefulness of AV technology increased after exposure, with significant perceptions related to intention to use, control/driving efficacy, and safety identified; Future studies should explore the impact of different regulatory systems, levels of technology, geographical contexts, and policies on older drivers' perceptions of AV technology.

Older adults' acceptance of fully automated vehicles: Effects of exposure, driving style, age, and driving conditions

Shabnam Haghzare et al.

Summary: This study investigated how factors like exposure to automated vehicle technology, driving style, driving conditions, and age affect older adults' acceptance of fully automated vehicles. Age and driving style were found to significantly impact older adults' acceptance of FAVs, with older age and greater dissimilarity in driving styles associated with lower acceptance. The results suggest that reliability and driving style similarity play an important role in older adults' acceptance of fully automated vehicles.
