Revisiting conventional and green finance spillover in post-COVID world: Evidence from robust econometric models

Gagan Deep Sharma et al.

Summary: In 2020, there was an increase in investment in ESG funds that focus on companies with higher environmental, social, and governance scores. A study found that there is a bi-directional causality between sustainable and green indexes, and this relationship became more pronounced after the COVID-19 pandemic. Investors can choose green investments without losing on risk-adjusted returns, which can facilitate businesses in steering towards sustainable operations.

Impact of virtual water export on water resource security associated with the energy and food bases in Northeast China

Shibao Lu et al.

Summary: This paper calculates the production and transfer of food and energy in Northeast China using water footprint and water pressure index, showing that water resources stress continues to rise in the region. Except for Liaoning Province, the water resources pressure indices of Heilongjiang Province and Jilin Province are significantly higher than the national average.

Ecological Water Requirement in Upper and Middle Reaches of the Yellow River Based on Flow Components and Hydraulic Index

Shibao Lu et al.

Summary: The deterioration of the ecological environment in the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River significantly affects the growth and development of aquatic organisms in the basin. This study shows that restoring flow conditions is crucial for maintaining the survival of main fish species in the upper and middle reaches of the Yellow River. The research results have higher operability, propose a coupling method for ecological water requirements, and illustrate the ecological flow process.

Application of Rough Set and Neural Network in Water Energy Utilization

Minghua Wei et al.

Summary: Combining rough set theory and artificial neural network for fault diagnosis of hydraulic turbine conversion improves diagnostic rate and reduces training time. Compared to a neural network based on rough set, an adaptive neural-fuzzy inference system offers advantages in terms of network topology simplicity, diagnostic accuracy, and shorter training time.

The implications for energy crops under China's climate change challenges

Aiping Zhang et al.

Summary: China has rich resources of energy crops and marginal land for bioenergy development. Under future carbon-related policies, bioenergy production is projected to increase significantly and can be fully met by current marginal land by the end of the century. High carbon taxes may increase agricultural market prices but will not affect crop residue production. Additionally, efforts on policy designing to support energy crop cultivation and promote BECCS research and deployment should be intensified to reduce carbon emissions.
