Online dating and psychological wellbeing: A social compensation perspective

The study identifies three categories of psychosocial vulnerabilities that hinder the initiation of romantic relationships and highlights positive associations between these vulnerabilities and online dating use. However, gaps exist in understanding the outcomes experienced by individuals with these vulnerabilities and the mechanisms through which vulnerabilities lead to increased use of online dating.

The First Year of Acculturation: A Longitudinal Study on Acculturative Stress and Adjustment Among First-Year International College Students

Loneliness and Its Associated Factors Nine Months after the COVID-19 Outbreak: A Cross-National Study

Summary: COVID-19 has become a global health concern impacting various aspects of individual and community wellness. This study aimed to examine the relationship between loneliness and risk assessment, measures against risks, concerns, and social media use, while adjusting for sociodemographic variables. The results showed that financial concerns were more strongly associated with social loneliness, while worries about the future were more strongly linked to emotional loneliness. Excessive use of social media was associated with higher emotional loneliness, highlighting the complex relationship between pandemic-related concerns and perceptions of loneliness.
