Biological activities of essential oils from Moroccan plants against the honey bee ectoparasitic mite, Varroa destructor

Summary: This study investigated the biological activities of six Moroccan essential oils against Varroa destructor adults and young Apis mellifera pupae. The results showed that the essential oils had toxic and repellent effects on V. destructor adults, while being less toxic to young A. mellifera pupae. Thymus willdenowii essential oil exhibited the highest acaricidal effect, while Artemisia herba-alba essential oil showed high mortality against A. mellifera pupae.
