The effect of mechanically milled lead iodide powder on perovskite film morphology

Hassan Elshimy et al.

Summary: Mechanical milling pretreatment is used to obtain nano-sized PbI2 powder, which promotes high-quality CH3NH3PbI3 perovskite films. The quality of PbI2 precursor film significantly affects the morphology and purity of perovskite films. Milling PbI2 powder can result in smaller crystallite size, higher surface area, and better coverage, leading to improved performance of perovskite devices.

Effects of kaolin characteristics on the mechanical properties of alkali-activated binders

Ayman Ababneh et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential use of six Kaolin samples for producing calcined kaolin-based alkali-activated binders. The chemical analysis revealed a wide range of Al2O3 content in the Kaolin samples, while the difference in SiO2 was minimal. The study found that Kaolin samples with higher pozzolanicity and higher Si/Al ratio were more effective in producing alkali-activated binders with higher compressive strength values.

Properties of ternary blended cement containing ground granulated blast furnace slag and ground coal bottom ash

Cheah Chee Ban et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the physical and mechanical properties of cement containing ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and ground coal bottom ash (GCBA) at various cement replacement ratios. The optimum cement replacement level with GCBA was found to be 10%. Additionally, the appropriate binder combination ratio and dosage of superplasticizer were crucial for ternary blended paste. In conclusion, the incorporation of GCBA in combination with GGBS enhanced both the mechanical and physical properties compared to GGBS binary blended cement mortar.

The effect of a sulfonated naphthalene-based polymer on redox reaction data, potassium ferrocyanide complexation, and the compressive strength of Portland cement paste

Asmaa A. El Gindy et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of sulfonated naphthalene-based polymer (Sikament) on the redox reactions of potassium ferrocyanide and the compressive strength of Portland Cement paste. Experimental cyclic voltammetry measurements of different concentrations of sulfonated naphthalene-based polymers were conducted using a DY2000 potentiostat. The interaction between the polymer and potassium ferrocyanide at various concentrations was studied, and the oxidation, reduction mechanisms, and stability constants of the formed complexes were discussed. The kinetics and scan rates resulting from this interaction were evaluated, and the compressive strength of the paste at different time intervals was determined.

Valorization of hazardous glass wastes via geopolymer production utilized in gamma ray shielding applications: A comparative study with Portland cement

M. Ramadan et al.

Summary: The main goal of this study is to fabricate low-cost green binding material produced from the safe recycling of soda-lime glass waste, hazardous lead-rich glass waste and slag. The compressive strength of geopolymer pastes is lower than that of OPC pastes, but they have acceptable attenuation capacity for gamma rays. In addition, the production of these geopolymers can significantly reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, showing good economic and environmental benefits.

Performance of mortar incorporating calcined marine clays with varying kaolinite content

Anjaneya Dixit et al.

Summary: This study explores the feasibility of using low-grade kaolinite clays as supplementary cementitious materials, finding that while they may lead to a decrease in strength, they exhibit significant improvement in corrosion resistance. The pozzolanic nature of the clays was studied using various methods, and their effect on corrosion resistance was examined with electrical resistivity and rapid chloride penetration tests. Overall, the results suggest that low-grade marine clays could serve as a viable alternative to replace cement, resulting in sustainable and low carbon concrete.
