Remote sensing, GIS and AHP techniques based investigation of groundwater potential zones in the Karumeniyar river basin, Tamil Nadu, southern India

S. Arunbose et al.

Summary: The primary goal was to analyze groundwater potential zones in the Karumeniyar river basin using integrated remote sensing, GIS, and geophysical techniques. Result showed that some areas exhibited higher potential for groundwater sources while others had lower potential due to different factors such as recharge fluctuations and sub-surface settings.

Groundwater prospecting using remote sensing and geoelectrical methods in the North Cameroon (Central Africa) metamorphic formations

Gouet Daniel Herve et al.

Summary: The study evaluates the groundwater potential in the metamorphic formations of North Cameroon using remote sensing imagery and geoelectrical surveys, identifying 61 lineaments mainly oriented in N-S and N22 degrees E directions. The high density of lineaments in central and western parts of the study area indicates fracturing, supported by geoelectrical survey results. The combined approach demonstrates effectiveness in assessing potential groundwater zones in metamorphic formations.

Coupled geophysical and geochemical approach to detect the factors affecting the groundwater salinity in coastal aquifer at the area between Ras Sudr and Ras Matarma area, South Sinai, Egypt

Fardous Zarif et al.

Summary: The integration of geophysical and hydrochemical approaches successfully reflects the hydrogeological vulnerability of the arid coastal aquifer in the study area. Groundwater exploration revealed different subsurface layers with varying resistivity and groundwater quality, highlighting the importance of careful extraction to avoid mixing with deeper saline water. Flash floods are identified as the primary source of groundwater in this area, emphasizing the need for continual monitoring or groundwater modeling due to intensive groundwater extraction.

An improved approach for predicting the groundwater potentiality in the low desert lands; El-Marashda area, Northwest Qena City, Egypt

Sherif Ahmed Abu El-Magd et al.

Summary: In this study, different groundwater potential assessment models were integrated with GIS and TI model to form a new integrated approach. The results showed that the TI model had a good classification effect on groundwater potential zoning in the Northwest Qena city area. The efficiency of AHP and TI models was proven in the validation of groundwater potential zones.

High-resolution electrical resistivity tomography and seismic refraction for groundwater exploration in fracture hard rocks: A case study in Kanthan, Perak, Malaysia

Sean Cheong Heng Lee et al.

Summary: This research successfully identified and located potential groundwater in fracture carbonate hard rocks through the integration of high-resolution electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and seismic refraction methods. The Data Levels Synthesization (DLS) method enhanced the accuracy in delineating hydrogeological structures and anomalies, ultimately achieving a high-resolution ERT image validated through seismic refraction, lineament map, and tube well drillings.

Multisource Data Analysis for Gold Potentiality Mapping of Atalla Area and Its Environs, Central Eastern Desert, Egypt

Ali Shebl et al.

Summary: In this study, airborne geophysical and remote sensing data were integrated to map the gold potentiality in the Atalla area of Central Eastern Desert, Egypt. The study identified five gold-promising zones based on structural complexity and hydrothermal alteration factors, with two confirmed by ancient gold mine locations and three strongly recommended for their gold potentiality.

Ajay Kumar Taloor et al.

Summary: This study estimated land surface temperature (LST), NDMI, and NDWI in the Ravi basin, India, and parts of Pakistan using Landsat-8 satellite data. An image processing method was developed to determine spectral indices, and the LST results were validated with in situ temperature observations, showing excellent correlation.
