MXene in core-shell structures: research progress and future prospects

Additionally, key findings, evaluations, and applications of the MXene core-shell in energy storage and conversion are studied and assessed. The review ends with the future direction of utilizing and functionalizing MXenes in core-shell structures in expanding their development toward hybrid core-shell structures for prospective applications.

Conductive PEDOT:PSS/cellulose nanofibril paper electrodes for flexible supercapacitors with superior areal capacitance and cycling stability

Summary: In this study, mechanically strong and conductive PEDOT:PSS based bulk films were successfully prepared using Cellulose nanofibrils (CNF) as building blocks. The optimized PEDOT:PSS/CNP exhibited excellent flexibility, high tensile strength (72 MPa), and high electrical conductivity (66.67 S/cm), making it a promising electrode material for flexible supercapacitors. The symmetric supercapacitor assembled using PEDOT:PSS/CNP showed outstanding electrochemical performance with high specific capacitance and energy density, as well as remarkable cycling stability.

Binder-free trimetallic phosphate nanosheets as an electrode: Theoretical and experimental investigation

Summary: Transition metal phosphides and phosphates are emerging as promising electrode materials for energy storage devices. A new trimetallic Zn-Co-Ga phosphate electrode material shows significantly higher specific capacity than mono- or bimetallic phosphates, along with superior conductivity and coulombic efficiency. Density functional theory calculations suggest that the enhanced metallic conductivity of ZCGP is due to modified exchange splitting from the 3d-orbitals of Co atoms in the presence of Zn and Ga. An engineered hybrid supercapacitor device using ZCGP//rGO demonstrates high energy and power densities, making it a potential candidate for energy storage applications.

SILAR synthesized nanostructured ytterbium sulfide thin film electrodes for symmetric supercapacitors
