Isoindolinium Groups as Stable Anion Conductors for Anion-Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells and Electrolyzers

Summary: Anion-exchange membrane fuel cells and water electrolyzers have gained attention as alternative technologies to traditional fuel cells and electrolyzers. However, the high pH environment in these devices can cause the breakdown of anion-conducting polymers. This study investigates a series of isoindolinium salts and demonstrates their improved stability in dry alkaline conditions. The findings suggest that these novel isoindolinium groups could be a promising solution to enhance material stability in advanced electrochemical systems.

Summary: The chemical folding of macromolecules into SCNP was successfully achieved using photochemical methods. The use of flow chemistry was found to be at least four times more efficient for SCNP formation, reaching higher intramolecular cross-linking ratios five times faster than batch operation.
