Acceptorless dehydrogenation of primary alcohols to carboxylic acids by self-supported NHC-Ru single-site catalysts

Shenxiang Yin et al.

Summary: In this study, the acceptorless dehydrogenation of diverse aromatic and aliphatic primary alcohols to corresponding carboxylic acids was achieved using self-supported NHC-Ru single-site catalysts. The catalyst exhibited excellent activity, selectivity, and tolerance to sensitive functional groups, and could be reused multiple times without deactivation.

From hydrogen autotransfer process to deuterium autotransfer process: The N-trideuteromethylation of amines with deuterated methanol to trideuteromethylated amines catalyzed by a Cp*Ir complex bearing a flexible bridging and functional ligand

Peng Liu et al.

Summary: A flexible and functional Cp*Ir complex bearing a 6,6'-(OH)(2)-2,2'-dipyridylamine ligand has been designed, synthesized, and found to be a general and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of trideuteromethylated amines through the N-trideuteromethylation of amines with deuterated methanol. The strategy offers advantages of readily available deuterium source, high atom efficiency, and environmental friendliness. The catalytic activity was confirmed to be dependent on the -OH units in the ligand, and a metal-ligand cooperative mechanism was proposed based on experimental results and DFT calculations.

Ruthenium-catalyzed acceptorless dehydrogenative coupling of o-aminobenzyl alcohols with ketones to quinolines in the presence of carbonate salt

Xiangchao Xu et al.

Summary: A ruthenium complex with a functional ligand was synthesized and found to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of quinolines. The NH units in the ligand were crucial for the catalytic activity. This research demonstrates the potential of metal-ligand bifunctional catalysts for acceptorless dehydrogenative reactions.

Direct Heterogenization of the Ru-Macho Catalyst for the Chemoselective Hydrogenation of α,β-Unsaturated Carbonyl Compounds

Sudakar Padmanaban et al.

Summary: In this study, a heterogeneous, pincer-type Ru porous organometallic polymer (Ru-Macho-POMP) with a high surface area was prepared via direct heterogenization of a commercially available homogeneous pincer-type complex, Ru-Macho, using dichloromethane as the cross-linker through a Lewis acid-catalyzed Friedel-Crafts reaction. The Ru-Macho-POMP catalyst demonstrated high turnover frequency (TOF = 920 h(-1)), high turnover number (TON = 2750), high chemoselectivity (99%), and recyclability during the selective hydrogenation of alpha, beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds.

Recyclable covalent triazine framework-supported iridium catalyst for the N-methylation of amines with methanol in the presence of carbonate

Peng Liu et al.

Summary: The iridium complex Cp*Ir@CTF, immobilized on a functionalized covalent triazine framework (CTF), is an efficient catalyst for N-methylation of amines with methanol in the presence of carbonate. It can produce a variety of products with high yields, complete selectivities, and functional group friendliness under environmentally benign conditions. The catalyst can be recycled multiple times without obvious loss of catalytic activity, demonstrating the potential of covalent triazine framework-supported transition metal catalysts for hydrogen autotransfer processes.
