Advancing intraoperative magnetic tracing using 3D freehand magnetic particle imaging

Summary: This study investigates a novel freehand magnetic particle imaging and navigation modality for intraoperative localization, along with a hybrid approach combining magnetic and fluorescence guidance. The results show that the fhMPI modality has potential for offering 3D imaging and navigation for magnetic nanoparticles in the operating room, and the integration of fluorescence imaging provides visual confirmation of localized nodes. Further clinical evaluation is needed to verify these findings in human patients.

Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.

Exosome-based photoacoustic imaging guided photodynamic and immunotherapy for the treatment of pancreatic cancer

Summary: In this study, tumor-derived reassembled exosome (R-Exo) was used both as a drug delivery carrier and an immunostimulatory agent for cancer therapy. By loading chlorin e6 photosensitizer into R-Exo, it retained its original size and membrane proteins for targeting tumor cells. The modified exosomes were able to generate reactive oxygen species and increase cytokine release from immune cells, showing their potential as an immunotherapeutic agent.
