Euclidean distance-based adaptive collaborative representation with Tikhonov regularization for hyperspectral image classification

Rongchao Yang et al.

Summary: In recent years, collaborative representation (CR) models have been widely used in hyperspectral image classification, but they suffer from long running time and the influence of class relevance. This paper proposes a novel Euclidean distance-based adaptive dictionary learning method to reduce the running time and enhance the classification performance.

Shuai Xie et al.

Summary: Monitoring land cover changes at high temporal frequencies using dense observations provides more comprehensive understanding compared to change detection using two-dates satellite images. This study combined the Continuous Change Detection and Classification algorithm with the Markov random field model to explore the annual dynamics of land cover in Beijing from 2001 to 2020. The proposed method generated consistent and accurate land cover maps, revealing the urban expansion and replacement of cultivated land in Beijing over the past two decades.

Xinyi Li et al.

Summary: The study introduced a novel spectral-phenological based land cover classification (SPLC) method for identifying land cover in fragmented agricultural landscapes, which performed well in accurately identifying various crop types with less reliance on ground truth data. The method integrated pixel-based SVM algorithm for cropland and non-cropland classification, and a phenology-based automatic decision tree algorithm for crop type identification, achieving high accuracy in land cover mapping.

Land Cover Classification from Hyperspectral Images via Local Nearest Neighbor Collaborative Representation with Tikhonov Regularization

Rongchao Yang et al.

Summary: The accurate monitoring of land cover types is crucial for the planning, utilization, protection, and management of land resources. In recent years, land cover classification based on hyperspectral images and the collaborative representation (CR) model has gained attention in remote sensing. However, existing CR models do not address the issue of sample imbalance and suffer from increased computational complexity due to Tikhonov regularization. To tackle these problems, this study proposes a local nearest neighbor (LNN) method to construct a dictionary for land cover classification. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed LNN method improves classification performance and reduces computational complexity.

Diversity-Driven Multikernel Collaborative Representation Ensemble for Hyperspectral Image Classification

Hongjun Su et al.

Summary: In this article, a new classification method based on KCRC and Bagging algorithm (KCRC-bagging) is proposed, which improves the classification accuracy and generalization performance by increasing the diversity of base classifiers. In addition, a diversity-driven multikernel collaborative representation classifier ensemble approach (DIV-KCRC) is proposed to reduce the scale of ensemble, which improves the classification performance and efficiency by verifying the effectiveness of classifiers and selecting those with high accuracy and diversity. The experimental results demonstrate that both KCRC-bagging and DIV-KCRC outperform their corresponding base classifiers, with DIV-KCRC providing more reliable classification results than KCRC-bagging.

Summary: This article addresses the issue of spectral shift in cross-scene hyperspectral imagery classification by proposing spectral shift mitigation (SSM) that includes amplitude shift mitigation (ASM) and adjacency effect mitigation (AEM). By reducing amplitude shift and spectral variation through amplitude normalization and weighted average spectral vector methods, and using a classifier trained with labeled samples from the source scene, superior classification performance is achieved on several cross-scene HSI data pairs.
